BIOGRAPHY OF AXEL CORTI
Film director. Active in cinema and theater, he is considered one of the highest voices of the Austrian democratic conscience. Born in France of Jewish parents, he spent his youth in France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Great Britain and Austria. In the 1950s he began to work for the Austrian radio and television and in the theaters of Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg and Brussels. His works for cinema and TV inspired by Central European literature or the dark years of Nazism are also famous. Shortly before his death he was working on a film adaptation of the novel ‘The March of Radetzky’, with Charlotte Rampling and Max Von Sydow.
