BJORK BIOGRAPHY
Actress, singer, composer. Bjork was born in the Icelandic capital of hippy parents. It grows in the “communes” organized by the flower children that are formed during the seventies. The alternative family and cultural context encourages Bjork’s artistic sensibility who already records a record at the age of 11, becoming a coincidence. He later forms several punk groups, then with the Sugarcubes he gets some success. The group includes Thor Eldon, whom he married in 1977, and with whom in 1986 he will have his son Sindri. The couple separated after a few years and the Sugarcubes disbanded in 1992. In the nineties the singer achieved great success with her three solo albums: “Debut” (1993), “Post” (1995) and “Homogenic” (1997) ), in which she collaborates with important artists such as Triky and Howie B. In 2000 the director Lars Von Trier proposed her to write the music for the film “Dancer in the Dark”; immediately afterwards he also offers her the role of protagonist. Bjork accepts and for the role of Selma, the Czech immigrant farmer who works in a factory, gets the Palme d’Or as best actress at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. It All “, co-written with the director, gets one Golden Globe and one Oscar nomination. Despite everything, it seems that between the two there were numerous frictions during the making of the film; moreover, for having identified too much in the tragic role of Selma, the actress has declared that she never wants to return to the big screen.
