BUDDY EBSEN BIOGRAPHY
Actor. He began his career as a theater dancer, paired with his sister Vilma, in the “Broadway Chorus”. In 1935 they both landed in Hollywood, where they starred in numerous MGM musical films. After his sister’s retirement from the scene, he continues to interpret musical films: his partners are Frances Langford, Shirley Temple and Judy Garland. Chosen among the protagonists of “The Wizard of Oz” (1939) to play the part of the tin man, he must give up the role after ten days of shooting, due to an allergy to metal. On television he participates in numerous successful sitcoms, including the role of patriarch of the enriched peasant family on the popular series “The Beverly Hillbillies” (which aired successfully for nine seasons) and as a private detective on the series “Barnaby Jones”. Among the numerous films he has played, one of the most important is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1961) in the role of Doc Golight. He dies in a California hospital at the age of 95.
