BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE BIOGRAPHY
Bullet for My Valentine (sometimes shortened to BFMV or B4MV or Bullet) is a British metalcore band, formed in 1998 in Bridgend, Wales. The band consists of Matt Tuck (singer and guitarist), Michael Padget (guitarist), Jason James (bassist and second voice), and Michael Thomas (drummer). The band stated that their musical style is influenced by artists such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and Slayer. In addition, the group is part of the Cardiff music scene. They formed under the name of Jeff Killed John and began their musical career with covers of songs by Metallica and Nirvana. Jeff Killed John recorded six songs which however weren’t released; the group reworked two of these songs later in their career, after changing their name to the current one. The name change was dictated by financial difficulties, followed by a change in the musical direction as well. In 2002, the band secured a five-album deal with Sony BMG. Their debut album, The Poison, was released on October 3, 2005 in the UK and February 14, 2006 in the US, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, hence the band’s current name. The album ranked # 128 on the Billboard 200 in the US and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Bullet for My Valentine have sold nearly three million records worldwide and had the biggest hit of all time in the Kerrang music event! Awards, obtaining three victories in the category of “Best English Band”.
