BIOGRAPHY OF CLAUDIO BISIO
Claudio Bisio was born in Novi Ligure, in the province of Alessandria, on March 19, 1957. He grew up in Milan, where he attended the Luigi Cremona high school and alternated with his studies both political commitment and a passion for acting. After making his bones at the Leoncavallo social center, is lucky enough to enter the Civic School of Dramatic Art of the Piccolo Teatro, which introduces him to Brecht, Pirandello, Feydeau, Shakespeare, Dostojevski, Sophocles and the musical “The Rocky Horror Picture Show“. Thanks to a representation of the latter show knows Gabriele Salvatores, that In 1981 welcomes him in Company of the Elf is in 1983 makes it debut in front of the camera in A summer night’s dream. Throughout the entire decade, Bisio continuously alternates the set with the stage, not even disdaining the cabaret, which will lead him for example to perform, paired with Antonio Catania, to the Derby Club.
If his most significant theatrical experience is the play by Dario Fo “Accidental death of an anarchist”, the cinema allows him to meet two great ones of the Italian comedy: Dino Risi is Mario Monicelli. The first directs it in War fool (1985) – entrusting him with the part of Lieutenant Pintus – while the latter wants him in the choral cast of The Picari (1987). Almost simultaneously, Claudio Bisio back to work with Salvatores, that in Kamikazen – last night in Milan (1987) offers him the role of Vincenzo Amato, an amateur comedian who splits his time between a bulky and depressed wife and a decidedly more attractive lover. With the exclusion of four films – two of them by Giuseppe Bertolucci – in the years immediately following Bisio becomes one of the most important collaborators of the Neapolitan by birth and Milanese by adoption director, who directs him in Turné (1990), Mediterranean (1991), Puerto Escondido (1992) and South (1993). The actor alternates small parts with important characters, often alongside Diego Abatantuono, his set mate also in Nirvana (1997) – that strangely marks the last partnership between Bisio and Salvatores. Also in 1997, Claudio Bisio jumped at the opportunity to work with Francesco Rosi: the film is The truce, transposition of the famous novel of the same name by Primo Levi. The decade that brought the actor to television broadcasts “Strip the news“,”Zelig” is “Never say Gol“, ends with the comedy of Antonello Grimaldi Donkeys (1999), which gives him an almost absolute leading role. The lack of satisfaction with the film temporarily distracts Bisio’s attention from the cinema, prompting him to continue with “Zelig“and to lend one’s talent to”Hyenas“The satisfactions also come from the dubbing – we think in particular of The ice Age (2002) – and from the theater – mainly thanks to “Monsieur Malaussène au théâtre” of Daniel Pennac. He will also borrow the monologue from the French author Claudio Bisio “Thank you“, which he will take on tour in 2005.
Beyond the experience of it Gorilla care (2006), which puts him in contact with the noir universe of Sandrone Dazieri, in the second half of the 2000s Bisio only makes films to laugh: national-popular products such as cinepanettone Christmas in New York (2006) and more sophisticated comedies – including Love, lies and soccer (2008) of Luca Lucini ed Former (2009) of Fausto Brizzi. There is no lack of a return to tradition with Monsters today (2009) of Enrico Oldoini. In 2010 Claudio Bisio reaches thepinnacle of success thanks to welcome to the South of Luca Miniero, remake of the French comedy Down to the North. The actor duets with Alessandro Siani, breaking the box office and repeating the experiment in 2012 with Welcome to the North. In the meantime, continue to voice the sloth Sid in the movies de The ice Age. He is also still directed by Brizzi in Males against females (2010) and in Females versus males (2011), followed in 2013 from Guess who’s coming for Christmas ?.
Also in 2013 Bisio stars in Welcome President! of Riccardo Milani, in which he is a man without qualities who finds himself President of the Republic. This character, endowed with common sense and wisdom, follows a very different path from the descending parable of the lawyer protagonist of People who are fine (2014), the film by Francesco Patierno which takes its cue from the novel of the same name by Federico Baccomo. Soon after, the actor plays a depressed psychoanalyst close to blindness in Confused and Happy (2014) of Massimiliano Bruno. Candidate a three David di Donatello and two Silver Ribbons, Claudio Bisio he is also the author of books. In 2015 is together with Frank Matano in What a nice surprise, signed remake Alessandro Genovesi of a popular Brazilian comedy.
