BIOGRAPHY OF DEVENDRA BANHART
Devendra Banhart (born May 30, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter. Banhart’s music has been classified as indie rock, indie folk, psych folk, avant folk, Naturalism and New Weird America; his lyrics are often surreal and “naturalistic”. After the divorce of his parents he moved with his mother to Caracas, Venezuela, where he spent his childhood. Following her mother’s second marriage, she moves to San Francisco. Here he enrolled at the Art Institute and cultivated his passion for drawing and painting, and later began playing in some clubs. He currently lives in Los Angeles. In addition to his solo career, Devendra is also a member of the musical group Vetiver.
