BIOGRAPHY OF ELVIS COSTELLO
Elvis Costello, pseudonym of Declan Patrick MacManus (London, 25 August 1954), is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist and composer. He began his career in the 1970s as an exponent of the London pub rock scene, before his name was associated with the punk and new wave movements of the second half of the 1970s. His acclaimed debut album My Aim Is True was recorded in 1976. Shortly thereafter he formed The Attractions group, which accompanied him in the following years. Throughout his career he has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award and received two BRIT Award nominations in the “Best British Male” category. Elvis Costello and The Attractions are included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2004 Costello was inducted into Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time at # 80. Among his most famous songs are Alison, Everyday I Write the Book, I Wanna Be Loved, God’s Comic, Shipbuilding, I Almost Had a Weakness, The Man Out of Time, She and Almost Blue.
