BIOGRAPHY OF EMIS KILLA
In 2007 Emis Killa entered the TecnichePerfette freestyle competition where he was the winner. He collaborates with the independent label Block Recordz, with which he publishes the mixtape Keta Music (2009), the street album Champagne e spine (2010), released online and made in collaboration with some important names of the Italian hip hop scene, and finally, with his manager Zanna, the mixtape The Flow Clocker vol. 1 (2011). In 2011 he signed a contract with Carosello Records, and on December 19, 2011 he released a new street album Il Peggiore in digital download, whose artistic production was curated by Big Fish. In the same period, Emis Killa edited an official remix of I Need a Dollar by Aloe Blacc, broadcast by Italian radios. In January 2012 he released the album L’erba badiva, which debuted at number 5 on the FIMI chart of best-selling albums in Italy, remaining in the chart for over a year, and in the top 20 for the first 3 months. Various artists from the Italian hip hop scene collaborated on the album, such as Fabri Fibra, Gué Pequeno, Tormento and Marracash. After 16 weeks from its release, the album returns to the top ten best-selling albums, climbing to fourth place which is still the best result since the album’s release. The music video of the song Parole di ice, the second single from the album, received 2.5 million hits on YouTube in less than two weeks, a record for Italian music, 5 million hits in less than a month and 10 million in three months. On 30 June 2012 he released the single If the world was, in collaboration with J-Ax, Club Dogo and Marracash. The song reaches position number 2 in the Italian ranking, and the proceeds from sales were donated entirely to help the populations affected by the 2012 Emilia earthquake.
