BIOGRAPHY OF EMMANUELLE BÉART

Actress. He grows up on a farm in Gassin in Provence, not far from Saint Tropez, because his father Guy Béart, poet and singer, does not want his children to grow up influenced by the ‘glamor’ of Paris. At ten years old. in 1975, he took part in a science fiction film about a community of children (Demain, les momes) by Jean Pourtalè. At thirteen she was struck by the charm of Romy Schneider in the film “Mado” and has since decided to become an actress. At the age of 15 she goes to Canada as an au pair. Here he meets director Robert Altman who is writing for a film which will never be made. Returning to her homeland three years later, Béart begins attending a drama course and gets her first television role in the film “Raison perdue” (1984). David Hamilton, photographer and director, struck by the beauty of the actress, gives her a part in the film “L’amour en douce” (1985). The film that made her popular in France is “Manon delle sources” (1985). In 1987, director Tom McLoughlin chose her from among 5,000 candidates for the Hollywood film “Appointment with an Angel”. Emmanuelle is a sensitive and perfectionist actress. For the film “A Heart in Winter”, playing a violinist named Camille, she took violin lessons for a year. Her greatest success is the film “La bella grontrosa” (1991) by Jacques Rivette with Michel Piccoli. But it is “Mission Impossible” by Brian De Palma, with Tom Cruise, which makes it known internationally. In 1995, Béart was named one of the 100 sexiest stars in the history of cinema by ‘Empire Magazine’. He has two children, Nelly born in 1992 from the relationship with Daniel Auteuil, and Johan born in 1996 from the relationship with music producer David Moreau. She was arrested in 1997 for defending the rights of illegal immigrants. She is ambassador for UNICEF and the United Nations Children’s Fund.
