BIOGRAPHY OF FRANCESCO GAGLIARDI

Francesco Gagliardi is a director, screenwriter and film producer. From an early age he joined the ACT-CTS “Theatrical Cultural Association – Experimental Theatrical Collective” of Pertosa (SA), highlighting his marked interpretative and directing skills and showing interest in theater and in particular for the works of Edoardo De Filippo.

After completing his high school studies, he won the competition in the Italian Army Genius Railway Academy based in Turin, attending it from 1992 to 1997. In 1998 he wrote and directed his first short film, “Sabato notte” which, thanks to the social issues dealt alcohol, drugs and speed, causes of the Saturday night massacres, is presented in numerous high schools in the Campania region.

In 2008 he was elected President of the Social Movies – Culture and Cinematography Association and a few months later he founded the Film Production Company FG Pictures Srl based in Rome. In 2009 he produced the film “Prisoner of a secret” distributed by Iris Film Distribution, receiving the award as “Best New Producer” at the 63rd Salerno International Film Festival and distributing the film by Moldovan director Valeriu Jereghi, entitled “Goodbye” , also awarded in Salerno for having treated with style and elegance, worthy of the Italian neorealist tradition, the inner tragedy of two brothers in the face of the harsh reality of life.

From 2010 to 2012 he attended the academic cycle of filmmakers in Rome at the ACT Multimedia, Academy of Cinema and Television, within Cinecittà Studios, directed by Vittorio Giacci, specializing in film direction under the guidance of director Carlo Lizzani. In 2015 he wrote the subject and the screenplay of the short film “The house of dreams”, tackling the theme of the so-called “big babies” in a comic and ironic way. In the same year he is co-author and director of “Mediterranean diet example to the world”, a documentary with Franco Nero as a leading actor focused on the theme of the Mediterranean diet. Produced in collaboration with RAI Cinema and presented in world premiere at the EXPO in Milan, due to its high socio-cultural value it is screened at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and, selected in competition at the 72nd Salerno International Film Festival, wins the “Best Film” category prize in the “Discovery Campania” section. The constant desire to enhance his native territory pushed him, again in 2015, to run for the municipal elections of Pertosa (SA), becoming Municipal Councilor.

In 2018 he is co-author and co-director of the comedy “Mò Vi Mento – Lira di Achille”, presented at the 75th Venice International Film Festival in the “Venice Production Bridge” section, at the 20th Edition of the Napoli Film Festival in the “Close Encounters” section and winner as “Best Film” of the official feature films section at the 72nd Salerno International Film Festival. The film will be released in theaters in April 2019 by Europictures and Hum Distribution. Starting from the screenplay, he wrote the novel of the same name published by the Armando Curcio Editore publishing house. He is currently writing a new comedy that will shoot in the Abruzzo region.
