BIOGRAPHY OF GAVIN DEGRAW
Gavin Shane DeGraw (born February 4, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter. He is a pianist and guitarist. His popularity increased in 2003 and 2004. He grew up in South Fallsburg, New York State. His father was a prison guard and his mother a mushroom detox specialist, as mentioned in the song I Don’t Want To Be. His older brother Joey is good at detoxifying and sings in the same tone of voice as his brother. Gavin attended Berklee College of Music in the same year as John Mayer. He confided that he hated gossip. Early in his career he played in small clubs in Manhattan supported by fans who followed him from his hometown. He started to have success by saying I Don’t Want To Be which was chosen as the soundtrack of the teen drama One Tree Hill. The same song was presented by several competitors and in different editions of American Idol, Australian Idol and the similar Turkish program.
