BIOGRAPHY OF GENESIS
Genesis are a British progressive rock group that grew up and established themselves within the vast progressive rock movement. They are considered one of the most important and innovative bands in the history of rock. During their career, they have sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making them one of the thirty most commercially successful artists of all time. In the course of its history the group has undergone several formation changes, while maintaining the presence of Tony Banks (on keyboards) and Mike Rutherford (on bass and guitars). The most famous and recognized formations are two: the first, that of the success in the seventies, included Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel; the second, that of the eighties and nineties, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, with the constant support, during the lives, of Daryl Stuermer (electric guitar and bass) and Chester Thompson (drums and percussion), which however did not become never official members of the group. The latter formation is also the longest-running and the one that has achieved the greatest commercial success. Over time, many musicians from different musical backgrounds have joined the band. Skilled performers and skilled composers, Genesis also boast a large production of live material, witnessed by numerous live albums, both official and bootleg.
