Get ready for much more Rudy Giuliani.
The besieged lawyer will be the subject of not one but two documentaries about his epic downward spiral and how he went from beloved New York mayor to Donald Trump’s personal fixer.
Rolling stone Films and MRC Non-Fiction are joining forces to produce a documentary Giuliani slated for release in 2022. The film will be based on Seth Hettena’s explosive in May 2020 Rolling Stone function “What happened to the American mayor?” Oscar nominee Zach Heinzerling and Emmy winner Gabrielle Schonder have been selected to direct.
On top of that, another documentary on Giuliani from the team behind Hulu’s recent WeWork: Or The Making and Breaking of a $ 47 Billion Unicorn Documentary is also in the works.
Data Line Reports:
Campfire Studios, the recently rebranded document producer behind FX’s The Most Dangerous Animal of All and Netflix’s The Innocent Man, is producing the film with Jed Rothstein attached to directing. Rothstein led the WeWork Document as well as projects such as The China Hustle and Killing in the Name.
Olive Hill Media is fully funding the project, which is also produced by Forbes Entertainment. It is the production arm of the business magazine’s latest film project and the project is based on its reporting on the former New York mayor and adviser to Donald Trump over the past five decades.
Giuliani, of course, loves being in the spotlight. Either way, however, we don’t think he’ll like being the subject of these two papers. Especially when he is already the subject of a federal investigation into his possible ties to Ukraine.
On top of that, he is currently trapped in two libel lawsuits by voting machine companies Smartmatic and Dominion after accusing them of widespread voter fraud. Dominion is seeking $ 1.3 billion in damages.
And to add insult to injury, Giuliani would be broke.
Several media outlets reported last week that he had laid off staff and begged Donald Trump to help pay his growing legal bills. (Trump, of course, refuses to pay, although he owes Giuliani $ 200,000 for his unsuccessful efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.)
