BIOGRAPHY OF JAMIE FOXX
Actor. His parents divorced soon after his birth and he was adopted by his maternal grandparents, Mark and Esther Talley. During his teens he attended New Hope Baptist Church, where he became choir director. Passionate about music, he forms ‘Leather and Lace’, his first Rythm’n Blues band. In addition to cultivating a passion for music, he achieved success as a quarterbeck on the school’s football team during high school. After graduating, he won a scholarship to study music at the US International University of San Diego, California. On his twenty-first birthday he goes with some friends to the Comedy Club in Los Angeles, where, encouraged by his companions, he takes the stage and performs in a series of imitations that are well received by the public. So he decides to try a career as a comedian, he moves to Los Angeles and in a short time manages to get a writing for the sitcom “Roc” with Charles Dutton. In 1991 he joined the cast of the “In Living Color” series, where he stably starred until 1994, when he also released the album “Peep This”. In 1996 he was offered the opportunity to star in his own TV show, “The Jamie Foxx Show”, and the first film offers also arrived with Michel Lehmann’s “A Man on Loan” alongside Uma Thurman and Ben Chaplin, and ” The Great Promise “by Reginald Hudlin with Samuel L. Jackson. The international consecration comes in 1999 thanks to his interpretation in “Every cursed Sunday” by Oliver Stone (he is also the interpreter of one of the songs of the soundtrack). In 2002 he was one of the protagonists of “Alì”, the film about the life of boxer Muhammad Alì (Cassius Clay) directed by Michael Mann, director who also chose him three years later for the film “Collateral”. In 2005 thanks to his interpretation in “Ray”, a film about the life of the famous blind singer, wins his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical Film and a double Oscar nomination for lead actor in “Ray” and supporting actor in “Collateral”.
