Did Jamie Spears use Britney Spears funds to defend himself in the legal guardianship battle?
On Friday, July 9, People obtained Los Angeles court documents filed by lawyer Lauriann Wright, who represents Britney’s acting personal curator Jodi Montgomery.
Montgomery alleged that Jamie used “over $ 2 million of his daughter’s money” to defend himself in order to maintain control of his daughter’s estate and funds.
“It’s ironic that Mr. Spears now wants the guardianship to ‘reflect his wishes’ because it’s no secret that Ms. Spears wished her father would leave his life for years,” Montgomery said.
Montgomery took issue with Jamie’s claim that he is unaware of his day-to-day business since “everything costs money” and no expense can take place without his approval.
“Not all of the requested expenses were approved, which led to some of the concerns Ms. Spears raised on June 23, 2021,” she concluded.
Montgomery’s case follows his request to find an ad litem guardian for Britney. This means that she will ask someone to act as a lawyer to help her choose a new lawyer after her court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham asks the court to resign from the Britney case. Using this method, she would not have to undergo a medical evaluation.
According to TMZ sources, Britney is looking to hire former federal prosecutor and leading lawyer Matthew Rosengart. The “Stronger” singer has apparently signed the court document below.
“As per my statement in open court on June 23, 2021, my rights and desire to terminate the aforementioned trusteeship over my father Jamie P. Spears is my desire to choose and retain my own lawyer, in Greenberg, Traurig, LLP as noted above, “the file says.
