Sadly, the dreams of Friends fans were dashed. Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer are not dating.
Although fans wanted to see actors Ross Geller and Rachel Green reunite in real life, Schwimmer’s team confirmed to Elle UK that the friends and former co-stars are not dating. This follows Closer’s report that the two were an element, which caused a social media frenzy.
During the special Friends HBO Max reunion, Aniston and Schwimmer admitted to crashing into each other while filming.
“At one point we were both crashing hard, but it was like two ships were passing because one of us was still a couple,” Schwimmer revealed. “We never crossed that line. We respected that.”
Although they never had a romantic relationship offscreen, they used their feelings for the small screen.
“I remember once saying to David, ‘It’s going to be really disappointing if the first time you and I kiss is on national television,'” Aniston recalls. “Of course the first time we kissed was at this cafe. But we just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
Aniston later told Howard Stern that a potential relationship “wouldn’t have worked out” and that it was “never a good time.”
“The beauty of it was that whatever feelings we had, we literally channeled it all over to Ross and Rachel,” she added. “And I think maybe that’s why it sounded that way.”
