BIOGRAPHY OF JON BERNTHAL
Born in Washington on September 20, 1976, Jon Bernthal – son of a well-known lawyer and grandson of a major music producer – he did not start studying acting in the United States, like many of his colleagues, but at the Moscow Art Theater in Russia, where he had moved after a short stint at the Skidmore College of Sarasota Spring and where, to support himself, he played semi-pro baseball on a team of Confederation of European Baseball. Back in the States, he was noticed by the director of the Institute for Harvard University Advanced Theater Training while studying atAmerican Repertory Theater of Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he graduated in 2002.
Thus began to act regularly in theaters Off-Broadway, and right in the 2002 he made his debut in the cinema with a film entitled Mary / Mary and on tv in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
The alternation between cinema and TV will become a constant in his career: in 2006, for example, gets a part in his first major film, World Trade Center of Oliver Stone, in which he is one of the fellow firefighters of Nicolas Cage, and has his first regular role in a series, The Class – Friends forever, which went on for 19 episodes. In 2009, however, it is Al Capone in A night at the museum 2 – Escape, and begins his participation in the series Eastwick, duration 11 episodes.
The 2010 and for Bernthal the year of the turning point: in fact he gets the role of Shane Walsh in one of the most popular series of recent years, The Walking Dead, which he will play for 19 episodes.
At the cinema he appears in films such as The man in the shadows of Polanski is Rampart of Oren Moverman, is in the 2013 gets honors and nominations for the role of Brad Bodnick in The Wolf of Wall Street of Martin Scorsese, while the following year is Grady “Coon-Ass” Travis, one of the crew members of the US tank protagonist of the events of the war movie Fury.
After being in the cast of Sicario of Denis Villeneuve, in 2016 Bernthal gets another important role, once again on TV: it is he, in fact, who plays Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in the license plate series Marvel is Netflix Dare devil, a character who will also resume in a spin off all focused on him.
The cleared road to television success did not, however, divert the actor’s attention from the cinema: he appeared in The Accountant, alongside Ben Affleck, and soon we will see him starring in films like Baby Driver of Edgar Wright, Wind River of Taylor Sheridan is Stingray of Anthony Hayes.
Married since 2010 to Erin Angle, grandson of the famous wrestler Kurt Angle, Jon Bernthal has three children: Henry, Billy and Adeline.
