Kanye West has a lot on his mind: a pending divorce (maybe …?), An impending album, new dubious digs, massive listenings … the list goes on. He must be very distracted because Thursday (August 26) at night he didn’t even notice when it caught fire.
As the flames engulfed the rapper on stage, he couldn’t even remember the basic fire safety steps most of us learned in kindergarten.
So here’s a reminder, Kanye:
- If you see that you’re on fire STOP what you’re doing and stay calm (or as calm as possible when you’re on fire).
- Then, PUBLICATION DATE your body on the ground!
- Ultimately, TO ROLL back and forth until the flames go out.
Walking around like everything is fine, as seen below, is decidedly not what you should be doing if you spontaneously get on fire.
More seriously, West held his third Donda listening gig in his hometown of Chicago at Soldier Field last night, where he ignited – in front of 40,000 attendees, no less – as part of a coup on stage probably very choreographed.
During the show, he also apparently remarried his wife Kim Kardashian, another stunt (or was it?) That took place moments after the fire show. (Kardashian and West filed for divorce in February. It is not known whether the woman on stage was Kardashian’s replacement or in fact her, although she was present at her concerts recently.)
As for the fiery show, reporter Andrew Barber revealed that West originally had a different plan for the pyrotechnic stunt: the rapper apparently planned to burn the replica on stage at his childhood South Side home, which he had his team built for the event.
“Kanye’s original plan was to set the whole house on fire in the middle of Soldier Field, but the city wouldn’t approve it (by someone in the city of Chicago),” Barber tweeted.
