Kristen Bell has one essential parental rule: only bathe her children when they smell bad.
On Tuesday (August 4), Bell and her husband Dax Shepard stopped by The View. Shepard recently interviewed Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis on how often parents should bathe their children on his Armchair Expert podcast. Their unconventional response went viral and sparked a discussion.
Shepard and Bell weighed in on their beliefs in child hygiene when they appeared on the talk show. The couple share their two daughters, Lincoln, 8, and Delta, 6. Their children’s bathing routine has changed dramatically over the years.
“We bathed our kids every night before bed as their routine and then somehow they just started sleeping on their own without their routine and we had to start saying [to each other] like, “Hey, when was the last time you bathed them?” “,” Shepard explained.
Bell admitted that they would forget and remember only when the kids smelled a scent.
“I’m a huge fan of waiting for the stink,” Bell added. “Once you smell a whiff, that’s how biology lets you know you need to clean it up. There’s a red flag. Honestly, it’s just bacteria; once you’ve got bacteria, you have to be like, “Get into the tub or the shower. ‘So I don’t hate what [Kunis and Kutcher] done. I’m waiting for the stench. “
Meanwhile, Kutcher and Kunis’ mantra is “If you can see the dirt on them, clean them up. Otherwise, it’s no good.” They also don’t use soap every day to retain their body’s natural oils.
