Lil Nas X has officially confirmed he’s dating and it’s serious. The rapper is one of three stars to honor Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood number (the other two are Olivia Rodrigo and Thomas Doherty).
In the issue, Lil Nas X (real name Montero Lamar Hill) talks about his stellar career, including his success in the music charts and potential forays into acting. The gay performer also talks about his personal life.
He says that prior to his success with “Old Town Road” his dating experience had been limited.
“I didn’t really have a sex life other than a person or two,” he said of his pre-fame experiences. “It definitely made things a lot more interesting, to say the least.”
“I’ve had good boyfriends and bad ones. Many of them were emotionally unavailable or had a lot of insecurity and so on. “
He confirmed that he is now in a serious relationship.
“[But] I have found someone special now. I think this is the one. I can’t explain it – it’s just a feeling.
He stops before giving more details or revealing who her boyfriend is. There has been speculation that he might be dating Yai Ariza, the dancer he shared a kiss with on stage at the BET Awards.
This kiss and the clips for Lil Nas X drew a lot of reactions from more conservative voices within the rap industry. He says he’s trying not to get drawn into answering.
“The honest truth is, I don’t want to talk a lot about homophobia in rap because I feel like it’s a very dangerous playground. It’s more for my own safety than anything else. .
He went on to add that he had felt in danger at times because of the reaction his music and videos had provoked.
“Yes, often, absolutely. Especially after [Montero]. There was literally someone chasing my car a few days after this video came out, shouting, “F *** you!” or something. And that’s when I started getting security.
In acting terms, he revealed that he turned down a role in the hit series Euphoria.
“I was actually going to do Euphoria, but I didn’t want to take long before I finished my album.
“I really want to be an actor, but I feel like I have to give it my all and I want to focus on the music for now. I want my first movie to be amazing.
He then took to Twitter to say he loved the show and didn’t mean he was too good for it.

Lil Nas X currently has two top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “Industry Baby” at number seven and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” at number eight. He told Variety that his debut album, titled Montero, will be released before the end of the summer.
