BIOGRAPHY OF MARCELLO DI FALCO
Actress, activist and politician. From 1980, following the sex change operation, he took the name of Marcella Di Folco, but was born as Marcello Di Folco and, from a very young age, after the war, he found himself in a difficult economic situation aggravated by his personal feeling of diversity and inadequacy. After graduating from high school, in 1961 he found work as a porter at the Hotel Rivoli in Rome. Four years later he obtained a job at the Piper Club, where he remained until 1978, fully participating in the most transgressive season of the Roman club. Meanwhile, in 1969, he went to Cinecittà to deliver a letter and, noticed by Federico Fellini, he was hired for the film “Fellini – Satyricon”. From that moment, hidden under the pseudonym of Marcello Di Falco, he began a career in the world of cinema that led him to work with Fellini, Rossellini, Sordi and many others. In 1971 he was the secretary of Santenocito / Vittorio Gassman in “In the name of the sovereign people” by Dino Risi, while two years later Fellini called him on the set of “Amarcord” to interpret the role of Prince Umberto di Savoia. In the same year, Roberto Rossellini offers him the role of the protagonist in the television film “The Age of Cosimo de ‘Medici”. In 1975 he was in the cast of “What sign are you?” by Sergio Corbucci and the following year he played Saccà in Elio Petri’s “Todo modo”. In 1979 he worked for the last time with his pygmalion in “La città delle donne” and in “Squadra antigangsters” by Bruno Corbucci, alongside Tomas Milian. The following year he makes a fundamental decision in his life and goes to Casablanca to undergo the operation for the change of sex. From this moment on he devoted himself to politics. In fact, she actively participates in the Italian Transsexual Movement and, after moving to Bologna in 1986, in 1988 she became president of MIT, creating a gender identity consultancy managed by trans.
