GOP representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) clearly believes that the January 6 rioters who broke into the Capitol building are being treated unfairly. She has repeatedly suggested that they face stiffer penalties than those who take part in the BLM and Antifa protests.
Yesterday she joined a chorus of far-right voices to protest how many are being held in jail without bail – or even face the consequences of their actions.
Responding to a tweet that asked if the QAnon Shaman did “anything violent” on January 6, Greene tweeted.
“More precisely on the Qanon Shaman; Did he physically assault someone? Did it cause damage to federal property? Did he burn something? Did he loot or steal anything? Where are the videos? “

The tweet drew thousands of responses, with many pointing out that you don’t have to have been physically abusive towards someone to face felony charges or be held in jail.
He had a big, creepy spear leading the charge and saying violent things about Mike Pence. How come you didn’t go out to give him a hug if he wasn’t doing anything wrong?

Trying to stop the democratic process of certifying our elections is insurgency and domestic terrorism, which by definition is violence. If that’s what you approve of, you don’t have a place in our government either.

Pretend the Capitol is your home, Marge. Someone walks in through a window that a friend of theirs broke. How do you respond?

In a subsequent tweet, Greene said, “The Jan. 6 Commission is just another big smokescreen and witch hunt against Trump and his supporters to fuel hatred, while ignoring the non-stop Antifa violence / BLM. “

In addition to the tweets, Greene also rose to the House to deliver a five-minute speech on the unfairness of the treatment of rioters, opposing the establishment of a commission to study the events of January 6 and the expenditure of additional funds. security to prevent such attacks.
The QAnon Shaman is a male known as Jake Angeli, born Jacob Chansley. He was a regular participant in the QAnon protests before gaining worldwide attention for his highly visible participation in the January 6 insurgency in Washington.
He is currently being held in prison and faces felony charges of violent entry and disorderly conduct. He denies the charges. He recently spoke of regretting entering the Capitol building “with every fiber of my being.”
This week, Chansley’s attorney, Albert Watkins, told political news site Talking Points Memo that his client should not be in jail. Watkins blamed former President Donald Trump.
“They’re not bad people, they don’t have a criminal history,” Watkins said. “Fuck, they’ve been subjected to over four years of fucking propaganda like the one the world hasn’t seen since f ****** Hitler.
Watkins also said his client has Asperger’s syndrome and suggested that others involved in the January 6 riots had mental health issues.
“A lot of these defendants – and I’ll use that colloquial term, maybe disrespectfully – but they’re all short-bus f ******. These are people with brain damage, they’re f ****** retarded, they’re on the spectrum. “

This Friday, Marjorie Taylor Greene will join Florida representative Matt Gaetz, victim of the scandal, to organize an “America First” rally in Arizona.
