Matt Damon recently removed a homophobic slur from his vocabulary.
On Sunday August 1, the actor sat down for an interview with The Sunday Times to promote his new film, Stillwater. During the conversation, he revealed that it was one of his daughters who had recently taught him not to utter homophobic slurs. Damon and his wife Luciana share four daughters, it is unclear who demanded that he not use the word harmful.
“The word my daughter calls ‘f-slur for a gay’ was commonly used when I was a kid, with a different application,” he told the outlet. “I made a joke months ago and got a treaty from my daughter. She left the table. I said, ‘Come on, this is a joke! I say that in the movie Stuck on You! ‘ She went to her room and wrote a very long and beautiful treatise on the dangerousness of this word. I said, ‘I’m taking the f-slur off!’ Understood.”
Damon now understands the changing landscape of the media and the world. He tries to choose his words more carefully.

Her new film, Stillwater, based on the Amanda Knox story, received a big reaction from fans and Knox herself. She said the film exploits her life and her trauma. In a personal blog post, she said she was still associated with a crime she did not commit.
“Before, it didn’t really matter what I said because it didn’t make the headlines,” Damon added. “But maybe this change is a good thing. So I closed the f — up more.”
