High School Musical fans are rejoicing: A mini reunion for two OG HSM cast members in the form of an adult romantic comedy will be available later this year!
On Wednesday May 19, Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu announced that they are co-starring in a Lifetime Christmas movie, A Christmas Dance Reunion. On Twitter, the Disney alumni playfully shared a photo from their HSM days alongside a new promotional plan for the upcoming TV movie. “How it started and how it’s going,” Coleman wrote in the original tweet.
“This has been the hardest secret to keep !!! Acting in a Christmas movie @lifetimetv has always been a dream of mine, but never in a million years have I thought of sharing the screen with the one of my favorite people, ”Coleman wrote on Instagram. “@corbinbleu and I are so excited to join the #ItsAWonderfulLifetime this winter at #AChristmasDanceReunion.”
This will mark Blue and Coleman’s first on-screen appearance together since the High School Musical trilogy and the subsequent Disney Channel reunion. In the hit Disney movie. Coleman played Taylor McKessie, Gabriella Montez’s best friend and captain of the East High Scholastic Decathlon team. Meanwhile, Bleu played BFF Chad Danforth of basketball genius Troy Bolton. Their characters fell in love with each other and they became an on-screen couple.
In the upcoming Christmas movie, Coleman will play Lucy Mortimer, a high-profile lawyer who returns to her former favorite vacation spot, the Winterleigh Resort, alongside her mother. While there, she reunited with Blue’s character Barrett Brewster, her childhood Christmas dance partner and the resort owner’s nephew. Together they sail during the holidays and the sparks fly fast.
