Whatever your entertainment needs, we’ve got you (and hopefully your mind) here for you with Queerty’s weekly Culture Club column featuring some of the highlights of new releases, streaming shows, classics worth revisiting and what to drink while you watch.
The Rock-Out: P! Nk – All I know so far
Punk-pop rocker, gay rights activist, mother and badass P! Nk re-emerges from COVID-19 with this new concert documentary. All i know so far recounts the singer’s “Beautiful Trauma” tour, which saw her fly around the globe and perform aerial acrobatics while singing… while playing the mother of her two grandchildren, Willow and Jameson. Director Michael Gracey (The greatest showman) manages to capture the electrifying performances of P! nk in style, though the real draw here is the behind-the-scenes look at the singer’s rehearsals and her work as a mom. Husband and motocross champion Carey Hart – still handsome at 45 – also gives insight into their longtime relationship, though Willow and Jameson are therefore damn cute, they steal the movie. In case anyone doubts P’s talent, stamina or intelligence! Nk, this film dispels all doubts. She is one of them Hell of an artist.

The Return: Special Season 2
Creator / star Ryan O’Connell’s sitcom returns this week for one final season. It’s a shame too – the series has finally found its place as a formidable comedy. Season 2 catches up with Ryan (played by O’Connell) grappling with a nasty writer blocking case when he crosses paths with Tanner (Max Jenkins), a handsome gay man who catches Ryan’s attention. Although Tanner is already in an open, long-term relationship, it becomes clear that he and Ryan have developed feelings for each other that neither can ignore. The new season extends episode runtime from around 15 minutes to a standard 20-30 minute runtime, and with terrific results: The storylines are a lot more compelling this time around, and we get to knowing the characters on a deeper level than ever. With a guest cast that includes Charlie Bennett (Russian doll, tales from the city), Leslie Jordan and Ana Ortiz (Ugly betty) Special Season 2 suggests that O’Connell and his company still have a lot more stories to tell about these characters. Although Netflix has officially canceled the series, the new season is playing out as a perfect argument for a revival. Hey, weird things happened.
Airs on Netflix on May 20.
The Mistress: Master of None Season 3
Speaking of long-awaited returns, comedy Aziz Ansari is also making a comeback this season, albeit with a format change. Season 3 of the series focuses on the supporting character here Denise, played by the great Lena Waithe. The season focuses on Denise’s long-standing relationship with girlfriend Alicia (Naomi Ackie). Unlike the first two seasons, which focused more on Ansari’s Dev struggles with dating and career, Season 3 delves into the woes of a long-term relationship, the challenges couples face in keeping their lives. fresh, parenting and balancing a creative career. and personal obligations. Waithe – who also co-wrote the season with Ansari – is proving to be a true leading woman here, although Ansari’s Dev is sorely missed. Hoping that Season 4 will reunite Waithe and Ansari on and off screen.
Airs on Netflix on May 21.

The Retro: Sherry Vine Variety Show
And speaking of all things drag-tastic, Drag race Veterinarian Sherry Vine channels her inner Carol Burnett with this classically-styled variety series that combines music, comedy sketch and (what else) drag. Along with Ms. Vine’s talents, this season also features guest stars Alaska Thunderfuck, Bob The Drag Queen, Bianca Del Rio, Jackie Beat, Monet X Change, Peppermint, Tammie Brown, Varla Jean Merman, Alec Mapa, Candis Cayne, Mario Diaz and Nadya Ginsburg. For our money, old school, often camptastic, the variety series have practically disappeared. What better way to bring the genre to life than with the comedic styles of the queens of the camp? We’ve seen the season premiere and can say it’s worth staying through the credits, if only to watch Sherry Vine & Alaska talk about browsing Twitter for d * ck pics.
Airing on OutTV on May 25th.
