Alexia Echevarria’s mother Nancy died of COVID-19 which should have been on her wedding day.
On Wednesday August 25, the Real Housewives of Miami star announced her mother’s passing via Instagram. She was to marry her real estate fiance Todd Nepola that day.
“Early this morning, I lost my mother to the horrific and deadly COVID-19,” she wrote. “The past two days have been a roller coaster of emotions for me. I was on my way to marry the man of my dreams when I had to stop everything because my mother fell ill. Which was supposed to be the happiest day of my life today has turned out to be the saddest. “
Along with the heartbreaking caption, she has shared photos of her mother over the years. She described her mother as “a woman of strength and beauty”.
“She was a pioneer in many aspects of life,” she continued. “A political refugee from Cuba, who enrolled in medical school in the 1960s. She raised three children alone with the help of my grandmother. A feminist and liberal with her social views. She has always had an informed opinion. Her thoughts and opinions were so particular and unique. The craziest thing was that she was always right !! “
“Saying that I will miss you does not do justice to how I feel, no amount of tears can express the pain I feel in losing you, but again thank you for the honor of sharing a life with me”, a- she added.
She concluded her article by noting that she is in a better place to “dance and drink champagne” before asking him to look after her family.
“Please watch over us, for I need all the help from above. I now have another angel. Until we meet again,” he said. she writes.
Nepola proposed to Echevarria in 2019 and the couple delayed their marriage due to the COVID-19 pandemic the following year. Echevarria shares two children, Peter and Frankie, from a past relationship with Pedro ‘Pegy’ Rosello.
Echevarria was featured on the first three seasons of The Real Housewives of Miami. The show was canceled in November 2013. However, the series is relaunched for a fourth season via NBC’s Peacock which is slated for release in May 2022.
Echevarria has not announced a new wedding date.
