BIOGRAPHY OF REMO GIRONE
Actor. In 1971, after graduating, he left Africa and moved to Rome to complete his studies in economics and commerce but, instead, graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Art. He made his debut in the cinema with the film ‘Rome wants Cesare’ (1972) by Miklos Jancsò, and two years later Marco Bellocchio entrusted him with the role of protagonist in the film ‘The seagull’, presented in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. In the following years he participated in numerous productions, including ‘Corleone’ (1978) by Pasquale Squitieri, ‘and’ Il viaggio di Capitan Fracassa ‘(1990) by Ettore Scola. The notoriety among the general public, even internationally, comes thanks to the successful and long-lived television series ‘La Piovra’, of which he becomes a regular character from the third (1987) to the seventh (1995) edition, playing the role of the mafia fixer Tano Cariddi . His career continues dividing between television, theater and cinema. In the theater he plays in Chekhov’s ‘Uncle Vanya’, directed by Peter Stein, which won the Edinburgh Theater Festival 1996. Among the television series: ‘God sees and provides’ (1996) by Enrico Oldoini and ‘Fantaghirò 5’ ( 1996), by Lamberto Bava. In 2002 he took part in the international production of ‘Heaven’, by Tom Tykwer, from a story by Krzysztof Kieslowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz. Since 1982 Girone has been married to the Argentine actress Victoria Zinny.
