BIOGRAPHY OF RICARDO DARÍN
Actor and director. Son of art of an entire family of artists. He made his debut in the theater at the age of ten alongside his acting parents, Ricardo Darín and Renée Roxana, and in 1969 he made his first film, “La culpa”, by Kurt Land. At just sixteen he is a well-known face of Argentine TV. He appears in various TV programs, such as “Alta Comedia” and “Estación Retiro”, and telenovelas and sitcoms aired from 1977 to 1999, such as “El Tema es el amor” (1977), by Carlos Berterreix, and “Una escalera al cielo “(1979), by Juan David Elicetche, up to the great success of” Mi Cuñado “in 1993, again for Berterreix, where he acted together with Luis Brandoni. He was also hired for numerous soap operas signed by Alberto Migré which earned him a lot of popularity. Always a lover of theater as well, he joins the group “Los galancitos”, made up of young actors who have come out of television and are eager to make a name for themselves on the stage. Their theatrical performances are a great success with the great Argentine public. In recent years his film career is not affected, quite the contrary. Especially for “The Son of the Bride” (1999) and “The Secret of His Eyes” (2009), both by Juan José Campanella, he achieved international success. “The secret of his eyes”, then, earned him a nomination for the 2010 Oscars for Best Foreign Film and one for Best Actor at Goya; the latter together with the best supporting actor for “El baile de la Victoria” (2009), by Fernando Trueba. He is also known for his interpretation of: “Nine Queens” (2000), by Fabian Bielinsky; “The escape” (2001), by Eduardo Mignogna, and “XXY- Men, women or both?” (2007), by Lucía Puenzo. In addition, in 2007 he made his first director, helped by Martin Hodara, the thriller “La señal”, which he also stars with Carlos Bardem. In 2010 he was hired by Sebastián Borensztein for “What rains from the sky?”, A film that received the Marc’Aurelio prize of the jury for best film and the BNL audience prize for best film on the occasion of the VI Edition of the International Film Festival of Rome (2011).
