BIOGRAPHY OF RINA FRANCHETTI
Actress and voice actress. Daughter of a dramatic actress who pushed her to follow in his footsteps by enrolling her in a school of singing, dance and music from an early age, in 1923 she made her debut on the stage with the company of Paolo Bonecchi, and then joined, from 1925 to 1928, of the company of Luigi Pirandello, acting alongside Marta Abba, Andreina Pagnani and Lamberto Picasso in numerous comedies. In 1933 she found her optimum dimension in the Za-Bum company, but the previous year she discovered cinema by playing the role of the co-star in the comic film “Two happy hearts” by Baldassarre Negroni. Although he enthusiastically launches into the world of sound cinema, accepting even small roles in pink comedies such as “La segretaria per tutti” (1932) by Amleto Palermi or “La provincialina”, an Italian-German co-production directed by Carl Boese, the big screen seems intent on to leave it on the sidelines. For this reason, increasingly dissatisfied with the roles offered to her, she moves away from the sets to return only occasionally as a character actor, as in 1943 for Mario Bonnard’s “Campo de ‘Fiori”, in which she plays alongside Anna Magnani, Aldo Fabrizi and Peppino De Filippo. In the postwar years, his relationship with cinema became more assiduous and he participated in many of the important films in the history of Italian cinema such as “Cuore” (1947) by Duilio Coletti, “La Provinciale” (1952) by Mario Soldati, ” These ghosts “(1955) by Eduardo De Filippo,” La dolce vita “(1960) by Federico Fellini and many others. Also active in the radio world and as a voice actress, starting from the second half of the 1950s she also landed on the small screen, taking part in some RAI dramas including “Piccole donne” (1955), based on the novel of the same name by Alcott, for directed by Anton Giulio Majano, “Resurrection” (1965) from the text by Lev Tolstoj, directed by Franco Enriquez and “The fair of vanities” (1967), reduction of the novel by Tackeray directed again by Majano. Starting from the second half of the seventies, his film career begins a slow but inexorable decline, but continues to tread the Italian stages directed by Franco Enriquez, Mario Missiroli, Giancarlo Sepe and Gianrico Tedeschi, for which he plays “Tutto per bene” by Pirandello. In 1986 Diego Cugia called her to play the part of her grandmother in the radio variety “Lagrime”, broadcast on Radio 1. In recent years she retired with her daughter Sara and her family to her home in Formello, where she died at almost 103 years.
