BIOGRAPHY OF SALVATORE FICARRA
The artistic partnership between Ficarra & Picone was born in 1993. They began performing in Sicilian clubs and cabarets, and on private Cinquestelle and Odeon TVs in the three editions of the show “Grand Hotel Cabaret”. In 1995 they took part in the “Cabaret Festival” conducted by Nino Frassica (broadcast on Rai Tre) and in the same year they met Andrea Brambilla (aka Zuzzurro), who together with Marco Posani wrote for them the show “In tre sull’Arca di Noah”. In 1997 they staged the show “Go ahead you that I persecute you” and on television they took part in the programs “Zelig”, conducted by Claudio Bisio and directed by Marco Posani on Italia 1, and “Va ora in onda” by Paolo Beldì on Rai Uno. In 1998 they won the Grottamare Cabaret Festival, the Tognazzi Prize and the Petrolini Prize. On television they appear in the second edition of “Let’s make cabaret”, hosted by Simona Ventura on Italia1, the following year they are part of the fixed cast of Bruno Voglino’s “GNU” broadcast on Rai Tre. In 2000 they returned to the stage with the show “Empty to lose”, on television they took part in “Zero a zero” by G. Nunziante on Rai Tre and again in “Zelig”. 2001 is the year that sees them achieve some success with the participation in the program conducted by Serena Dandini “The eighth dwarf” and “Quelli che il calcio” conducted by Simona Ventura. In 2002 they made their cinema debut with the film “Born tired” directed by Dominick Tambasco.
