Things look absolutely dire for Matt Gaetz as more damning details about his teenage sex scandal come to light.
Several media outlets are now reporting that he sent his boyfriend, accused sex trafficker Joel Greenberg, $ 900 via Venmo in May 2018.
The next morning, Greenberg used the same app to pay three different young women sums of money that ended up being, you guessed it, $ 900.
The Daily Beast reports:
The memo field for the first of Gaetz’s transactions at Greenberg was titled “Test.” In the second, the Florida GOP congressman wrote “hit up ___”. But instead of a blank, Gaetz wrote a nickname for one of the recipients. (The Daily Beast doesn’t share this nickname because the teenager had only turned 18 less than six months ago.) When Greenberg then made his Venmo payments to these three young women, he described the money as being intended for “tuition,” “at school,” and “school.”
Sooooo that’s pretty incriminating.
But it’s getting worse.
Because now Greenberg would be negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors, which would be absolutely disastrous for Gaetz as it means his old friend would cooperate with investigators in their investigation against him.
“I’m sure Matt Gaetz isn’t feeling very comfortable today,” Greenberg attorney Fritz Scheller told reporters yesterday outside the federal courthouse in Orlando.
Oh, but it doesn’t end there.
As the situation worsens for Gaetz, his senior executives jump ship.
Yahoo News reports:
Two senior Gaetz officials have also resigned since the Justice Department’s investigation became public. The New York Times reported Thursday that Devin Murphy, Gaetz’s chief executive, had resigned. His resignation followed that of former Gaetz communications director Luke Ball.
On top of that, his former adviser, Nathan Nelson, confirmed that he had been approached by FBI agents about the alleged illegal activities of the besieged congressman.
And just to add a little insult to the injury, a billboard popped up in Florida targeting him. It features a photo of his face with the caption “Matt Gaetz wants” to date “your kid.”
Gaetz, who coincidentally was the only US House member to vote against a human trafficking bill in 2017, has maintained his innocence throughout the affair and claims to be a victim of a $ 25 million extortion plot.
Here’s what internet users are saying about it all …
Adam Kinzinger is the first Republican to ask Matt Gaetz to step down as everyone else is busy erasing their Venmo stories.

But did you VENMO the guy who did it? Because it’s not bad too.

Matt Gaetz did NOT pay children to sexually exploit them. He paid the guy who paid for the kids. There is a difference.
