Travis Barker overcame his fear of flying and flew on an airplane for the first time in almost thirteen years.
On Saturday August 14, the Daily Mail posted photos of the Blink-182 drummer boarding Kylie Jenner’s private jet alongside his girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian. Photos show the couple kissed and held hands as they boarded the plane in Camarillo, California.
Barker and Kardashian traveled alongside Kris Jenner and boyfriend Corey Gamble for a vacation in Cabo San Lucas. The four men were then seen disembarking from the plane in Mexico.
In June, Barker shocked fans when he tweeted that he could fly again.
It was the first time Barker had flown since surviving a fatal plane crash on September 19, 2008, where he was one of only two survivors.
He was returning from South Carolina to Los Angeles after his band’s concert. The other passengers included his friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, his security guard Charles “Che” Still and his assistant Chris Baker.
As the plane took off, one of the tires burst, which forced the plane to overshoot the runway and ended up crossing the airport fence, over the freeway and crashing on a hill beside a road. The plane caught fire.
The pilot, Sarah Lemmon, and co-pilot, James Bland, died from smoke inhalation and burns. Baker and Still were killed on impact. Meanwhile, Barker and Goldstein escaped through the emergency exit but were both set on fire because they were covered in jet fuel. Barker suffered third degree burns to more than half of his body and ended up undergoing 26 surgeries and skin grafts to repair his skin.
