BIOGRAPHY OF VINCENT D’ONOFRIO

Vincent D’Onofrio was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Hawaii, Colorado and Florida. He eventually returned to New York to study acting atAmerican Stanislavski Theater, with Sharon Chatten ofActors Studio. While honing his craft, he appeared in many NYU student films and worked as a nightclub bouncer. In 1984, D’Onofrio became a full member of the American Stanislavsky Theater, and appeared in The Petrified Forest, Of Mice and Men, Sexual Perversity in Chicago and The Indian Wants the Bronx. That same year, he made his Broadway debut in Open Admissions. He most recently starred off-Broadway in Jonathan Marc Sherman’s Clive.

D’Onofrio caught the eye for his compelling and intense talent on the big screen in 1987, with a disturbing portrait of a frail young soldier from the Vietnam War in the film by Stanley Kubrick Full Metal Jacket. His other early career roles were Mystic Pizza is All that night. In 2000, he executive produced and starred in the 1960s counterculture icon Abbie Hoffman in Steal This Movie, with Janeane Garofalo, and starred alongside Jennifer Lopez is Vince Vaughn in science fiction noir The Cell – The cell.
