BIOGRAPHY OF VINCENT D’ONOFRIO
Vincent D’Onofrio was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Hawaii, Colorado and Florida. He eventually returned to New York to study acting atAmerican Stanislavski Theater, with Sharon Chatten ofActors Studio. While honing his craft, he appeared in many NYU student films and worked as a nightclub bouncer. In 1984, D’Onofrio became a full member of the American Stanislavsky Theater, and appeared in The Petrified Forest, Of Mice and Men, Sexual Perversity in Chicago and The Indian Wants the Bronx. That same year, he made his Broadway debut in Open Admissions. He most recently starred off-Broadway in Jonathan Marc Sherman’s Clive.
D’Onofrio caught the eye for his compelling and intense talent on the big screen in 1987, with a disturbing portrait of a frail young soldier from the Vietnam War in the film by Stanley Kubrick Full Metal Jacket. His other early career roles were Mystic Pizza is All that night. In 2000, he executive produced and starred in the 1960s counterculture icon Abbie Hoffman in Steal This Movie, with Janeane Garofalo, and starred alongside Jennifer Lopez is Vince Vaughn in science fiction noir The Cell – The cell. The other film credits of D’Onofrio include: The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, with Jodie Foster; The Salton Sea – Nightmares and lies, with Val Kilmer; Impostor, with Gary Sinise; Chelsea Walls, directed by Ethan Hawke; Happy Accidents, next to Marisa Tomei; The protagonists of Robert Altman; Love Choice – The Story of Hilary and Victor of Joel Schumacher; Ed Wood of Tim Burton; Strange Days of Kathryn Bigelow, with Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett; Stuart Saves His Family of Harold Ramis; Men in Black by Barry Sonnenfeld, with Will Smith is Tommy Lee Jones; The thirteenth floor with Craig Bierko; The whole world, which he produced and interpreted next to Renée Zellweger; is JFK – A case still open of Oliver Stone. In 2015 is in the cast of Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow. On television, D’Onofrio was Detective Robert Goren in more than 100 episodes of the series Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 1998 for his memorable appearance in the series episode “The Subway” Homicide: Life on the Street. D’Onofrio directed, produced and starred in the Five Minutes short, Mr. Welles, and appeared in the Oscar-winning short, The New Tenants. At the moment Vincent D’Onofrio can be seen in the role of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Netflix’s Daredevil, along with Charlie Cox. He recently performed One night to survive by Warner Bros. Pictures, with Liam Neeson, and will soon be seen as coach Vincente Feala in Brian Grazer’s Pele, written and directed by brothers Jeff and Michael Zimbalist. He most recently starred in the independent film Broken Horses, with Anton Yelchin and in The Judge, with Robert Downey Jr. is Robert Duvall.
