WATCH: Poison Ivy Evil Bi and Drag Icon Gets New Very Gay Origin

Calling all geeks, cosplay enthusiasts, or environmental drag queens: DC Comics supervillain Poison Ivy gets his own graphic novel, and he’s gay.

Poison Ivy: Thorns, written by Kody Keplinger with illustrations by Sara Kipin, reimagines the origin story of Batman’s iconic villain, Poison Ivy. In the comics, Poison Ivy is a bisexual eco-terrorist, using her botanical knowledge to wreak havoc on Gotham City.

This new story traces Ivy – real name Pamela Isley – to her teenage years, shrinking from the advances of lustful men and generally staying to herself. That changes when Pamela meets Alice, a brooding goth girl. Romantic sparks immediately fly… although the secrets of Pamela’s family life threaten to destroy their budding love.

DC Comics has provided Queerty with this exclusive trailer for the new graphic novel, which goes on sale June 1, just in time for the Pride. Looked.

Now if we could just have this gay Batman & Robin story …
