WES CRAVEN BIOGRAPHY
Film director. After a difficult childhood (growing up in an Anabaptist family), he leaves Cleveland to study aeronautics at Wheaton College in Illinois. Due to a bad illness he abandoned his studies and then returned a year later to study psychology. In 1963 he graduated and in 1964 he took his Masters from John Hopkins University. He became a professor of literature and married Bonnie Broecker in 1964 with whom he had two children, Jonathan and Jessica. Only after a few years of marriage, his wife leaves him with their two children. Wes decides to give up teaching and starts working first as a taxi driver, then he works in a New York post production company as an editor, eventually becoming a director and producer. His directorial debut, “The Last House on the Left” (1972), was welcomed by audiences and critics alike, but the real great success came 10 years later with the first “Nightmare” which imposed him as one of the masters of horror splatter genre. After a period of fogging he is back on the crest of the wave with the saga of “Scream”. In 1999 he made a foray into the world of comedy with “La musica del cuore”.
