BIOGRAPHY OF ZOOEY DESCHANEL

Zooey Claire Deschanel was born in Los Angeles on January 17, 1980. Daughter of cinematographer Caleb Deschanel and actress Mary Jo Deschanel, and younger sister of the actress of Bones Emily Deschanel, Zooey is named after the male character from JD Salinger’s novel Franny and Zooey. He begins studying acting at Crossroads School in Santa Monica. She attended Northwestern University, but dropped out after nine months to pursue an acting career.
