BLACK SABBATH BIOGRAPHY
Black Sabbath is a British heavy metal group, formed in Birmingham in 1968. The “historical” line-up is that made up of Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums) and remained such from 1969 to 1978. Subsequently, there were numerous changes in the staff of the band and Iommi remained the only permanent member. Black Sabbath are considered to be among the first heavy metal bands in history and have also contributed a lot to the development of the genre. From 1970 to 2010 they sold more than 100 million records worldwide. They are also considered among the major influencers of all heavy metal and were instrumental in the birth of its doom metal subgenre, and in 2003 they were ranked 85th in Rolling Stone’s list of 100 best artists, 3 of their albums were included in Rolling Stone’s 500 Best Albums list, which would be Master of Reality (298th place), Black Sabbath (241st place) and Paranoid (130th place). Their final consecration to the history of music takes place in 2006 when they are inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Black Sabbath is believed by some to be the greatest heavy metal band of all time.
