BIOGRAPHY OF BLUR
Blur are a British rock band, considered among the greatest exponents of Britpop, a very popular musical movement in the nineties. Formed in London in 1989 under the name Seymour, the group is formed by singer and keyboardist Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. In 1991 Blur released their first album, Leisure, influenced by the sound of the Madchester scene and shoegazing. Later they move towards more guitar pop sounds, inspired by groups such as Pink Floyd, The Kinks, The Who, the Beatles and XTC. In 1993 it was the turn of Modern Life Is Rubbish, followed by Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995). The band gets a very high popularity and is for a long time opposed by the media to Oasis. The two bands, rivals in the music charts, animated the so-called “battle of the bands” of Britpop. In 1997 the band released the album Blur, characterized by a change of musical style. The song Song 2 succeeds in the feat of breaking through in the United States and becomes extremely famous. Disc 13, released in 1999, is more electronic and with gospel sound.
