We would never want to take someone out until they’re ready, but that’s the exception. It looks like the iconic DC Comics character Superman is about to come out of the closet.
ComicBook.News reports that former DC Comics artist Ethan Van Sciver has publicly stated that Superman will be coming out of the closet in an upcoming screenplay. To be clear, this is not the classic incarnation with the secret identity of Clark Kent. Rather, he’s Jon Kent, the half-human / half-Kryptonian son of Superman and Lois Lane. So far, Jon Kent has doubled as a Superboy superhero.
“I just found out, I got a little scoop on DC plans. No one knows yet. It wasn’t really announced except by me. The plan is… the Superman book… I guess Clark Kent is going bye, ”Van Sciver said in a recent YouTube video.
Van Sciver also explained the real reasons for the character change.

“DC Comics had a lot of trouble maintaining the brand of Superman because you know he’s old. He’s an old character, and the family would desperately love the money because their family, their ancestors who created Superman. completely collapsed, ”Van Sciver explained.“ I mean Superman made billions and billions and billions of dollars in income and these two boys that made up Superman had “bupkis”, they were Jews, so they have “bupkis”, they got nothing. “
“Clark Kent, I guess, go bye and they’re going to replace him with Jonathan Kent, and then they’re going to announce that Jonathan Kent is gay.” So Superman is indeed gay, everyone, ”he continued. “He’s gay.”
Take it all with a grain of salt, of course; DC Comics has yet to officially comment on the matter. That said, we ourselves have reached out to sources in DC who have confirmed that the rumor is more or less correct: Jon Kent will turn gay.
The news of Superman’s exit follows news last week that DC character Tim Drake / Robin had come out of the closet as bisexual, making international headlines. The news also comes as Warner Bros., the studio behind the film adaptations of DC Comics, also announced the development of a film reimagining Superman as an African-American superhero.
