Is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson considering running for President of the United States?
The Rock was all the rage on social media this weekend after a poll conducted by Piplsay found nearly half of survey participants would approve of the former wrestler’s candidacy. Forty-six percent of the 30,138 American adults surveyed approved his candidacy for the White House and / or his candidacy for the Texas Governor.
On Saturday April 10, he took to the poll and rumor that he was considering running in the 2024 presidential election via Instagram.
“I’m not sure our founding fathers ever imagined a man of six-four, bald, tattooed, half-black, half-Samoan, drinking tequila, driving a van, carrying a fanny pack joining their club – but if ever that happens, it is my honor to serve the people, ”he wrote.
For the past five years, Johnson has been playing with the idea of a political career. In June 2016, he shared an article about how he could one day run for office and potentially win.
“I care deeply about our [country]… And the idea of one day becoming president to create a real positive impact and a global change is very attractive, ”he said at the time. “Buuuuut as far as possible, the most important thing right now is strong and honest leadership from our current and future leaders in this country.”
