JOHN BELUSHI BIOGRAPHY
Actor. The son of an Albanian restaurateur, his short life is marked by excess. A reckless life spent between endless wandering nights, depressive crises and phases of exaltation, the use of deadly drugs to always be at the top. Since he was a boy he has three passions: baseball, theater and rock-and-roll. He begins to make himself known for his demented comedy first in theatrical performances, then on the radio and finally on television with a “Saturday Night Live” broadcast that gives him popularity. His film career can be summarized in five films, two of which are memorable both directed by John Landis: “Animal House” (1978) in the part of the repellent Bluto, leader of a gang of goliards, and the grotesque musical “The Blues Brothers” (1980) in the part of a former convict who is dedicated to charity. In the other three, Belushi abandons his exasperated masks to play more normal roles: in “1941: Alarm in Hollywood” (1979) by Steven Spielberg he is a pilot, in “Call Me Eagle” (1981) by Michael Apted, he plays the role of a Chicago journalist in love with an ornithologist, in John Avildsen’s “Neighbors” (1981), plays a paranoid intent on protecting his privacy. Already in poor physical condition due to obesity, the actor died at the age of 33 in a hotel room, of excess alcohol and drugs, on March 5, 1982 in Hollywood.
