Any news about the continued success of Lil Nas X always makes us happy… but this latest achievement is particularly satisfying. Yesterday, the gay rapper beat DaBaby in Spotify’s “most monthly listeners” ranking.

As of August 10, Lil Nas X has 52.01 million monthly listeners, while DaBaby has 51.88 million monthly listeners. That makes Lil Nas X the male rapper with the most monthly listeners right now (Drake has 51.39 million and Post Malone has 49.69 million).

What makes Lil Nas X’s success all the more remarkable is that he has yet to release his debut album. Most of his current streams can be attributed to the fact that he has two top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “Industry Baby” at number seven and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” at number eight. The songs have been hits all over the world.

For anyone who is amazed that DaBaby has more monthly listeners than Drake, many current 29-year-old streams stem from his recent collaboration on Dua Lipa’s remix “Levitating”, which ranks third on the Billboard Hot 100.

Dua Lipa herself is the fourth most viewed artist per month, behind Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran. The highest ranked female rapper is Doja Cat, with 58.39 million (seventh on the overall list).

Of course, that list can change from month to month depending on which artists are releasing big new hits, but according to Lil Nas X, who reacted to the news on Twitter, this is the most monthly listeners there are. he never reached: “This is crazy. it is the most I have ever had in my career. thanks to all who are listening.

DaBaby recently made headlines for a homophobic rant he uttered, blowing up people with HIV, during a concert in Miami last month. He subsequently saw several canceled festival appearances. His contributions to several tracks, including one with Kanye West, have also been pulled from streaming services.

His comments were widely criticized by Dua Lipa, Madonna and Elton John. DaBaby posted a lengthy apology on his Instagram last week, saying he needed education and advice. However, that apology was removed over the weekend, causing many to question his sincerity.
