MONTGOMERY CLIFT BIOGRAPHY
Actor. Son of William, a banker who fell from grace during the depression and Ethel “Sunny”, an illegitimate daughter with an obsession with the search for noble birth, who raised her children as aristocrats. He has a twin sister, Roberta, and an eighteen months older brother, Brooks. One of his grandparents was Abraham Lincoln’s secretary. From an early age he improvises little shows for relatives and friends. At thirteen he made his Broadway debut, where he remained for ten years, emerging for the intensity with which he descended into the characters he plays. In 1948 he first appeared on the big screen with Fred Zinneman’s The Search and Howard Hawks’ Red River with John Wayne and a star was born.
