Lil Nas X has finally confirmed the release date of their debut album. Called Montero, it will be released on September 17th.
The rapper posted a promotional video on Twitter with a message saying, “Making this album has been therapy for me. I have learned to let go of control over people’s perceptions of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I realized that the only opinion of me that really matters is mine.

The accompanying video has Lil Nas X as a news anchor featuring a breakup story. This is the continuation of the story first broadcast in his recent “Industry Baby” video with Jack Harlow.

An excerpt from a new Lil Nas X song, “This is what I want,” then plays, along with the opening line, “Need a boy who can cuddle with me all night long. That leads to a ridiculously catchy chorus, with Lil Nas X singing, “I want someone to love me, I need someone who needs me.”
In a subsequent tweet, Lil Nas X heralded “the era of low power”.

In June, the artist responded to a Twitter follower who asked him if he was a high or a low. The rapper replied, “Power bottom.”
Lil Nas X, real name Montero Lamar Hill, rose to fame in early 2019 with his debut hit, “Old Town Road,” which topped the Billboard charts for 19 weeks. He followed up with other hits, including “Panini”, as well as his second number one single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” earlier this year.
He released his first EP, 7, in 2019, but Montero will be his first full album. He became gay towards the end of Pride Month in 2019.
