BIOGRAPHY OF RYAN KWANTEN
Ryan Kwanten, born Ryan Christian Kwanten, was born on November 28, 1976 in Sydney from a family of Dutch origins. His first choice for the future was not acting, as, after graduating from St. Paul’s Catholic College, he graduated in business from the University of Sydney. Kwanten’s debut, however, arrives on the small screen very soon, at just sixteen with the Australian TV series. Wandin Valley (1992), and then landed in the soap opera Home and Away (1992) – who launched many Australian actors – where he will sail until 2002. In 1994 he made his film debut with Signal One, but it is only a small role and we will have to wait almost ten years for the next film. Meanwhile, the commitments on TV continue and it will be Spellbinder (1997) the last Australian series in which he will take part, before moving to the United States, where his fame grows with the summer-flavored teen drama Summerland (2004), boosting the show’s testosterone alongside Shawn Christian and two very young Jesse McCartney is Zac Efron.
After playing the lead role in Liquid Bridge (2003), the American turning point also arrives in the cinema with Flicka – A free spirit (2006) of Michael Mayer. Kwanten will not be long in earning the interpretation of the main character and in 2007 he is in Dead Silence, where he is haunted by a ventriloquist’s puppet. It was also years where he held a new recurring role in a very popular series, that of Jason Stackhouse, brother of the protagonist Sookie, in the vampire True Blood (2008), thanks to which he won a Satellite Award. He later briefly returned to his homeland as the star of some Australian films, including Red Hill (2010) and Not Suitable for Children (2012). For the rest it seems that the blond Australian actor is particularly inclined to horror, first with the horror comedy Knights of Badassdom (2013) with Peter Dinklage is Steve Zahn and later with the Japanese-American terror film Flight 7500 (2014) of Takashi Shimizu.
He is a Christian monk there The Vikings (2014), alongside Antohy Hopkins, Jim Sturgess is Sam Worthington in the bio-pic The case of Freddy Heineken (2015) on the homonymous maltese of the Dutch beer; a rich curriculum that of Kwanten, to which in 2015 is added the dubbing, with which he had already dealt with The kingdom of Ga’Hoole – The legend of the guardians (2010), with Billy the Koala. In 2018, two more confirmations arrive for Ryan who is the protagonist of the series on TV The Oath, while at the cinema he must stop a robbery during a violent hurricane in Hurricane – Hurricane Alert.
