Selena Gomez says she signed her “Life Away to Disney”

Selena Gomez reflected on her time with Disney as a child compared to her work as a woman.

On Friday August 6, the former Princess Protection Program spoke with Fox News and other media during a Hulu virtual panel to promote its upcoming limited series, Only Murders in the Building.

“I surrendered my life to Disney at a very young age so I didn’t know exactly what I was doing,” Gomez said with a laugh.

“What I would say is the level of sophistication of the hardware is the number one reason I wanted to do this,” she explained of the upcoming show. Gomez added that when she was just a preteen on Wizards of Waverly Place, she “didn’t know what I was doing. I was just running on set.”

Although her time with the Disney Channel came to an end, she learned from this experience to advance her career. She said before She that the time spent with the network was “one of the best experiences of my life”.

Gomez understood that she had to be a role model for children and tweens during this time. She admitted that it was difficult to speak without a filter.

“The moment I started tearing down those walls I felt very exposed, so I was very hesitant to share with people,” she said at the time. “So I would sit down and give the politically correct answers.”

She then had a clarifying moment where she realized that she wanted to let go of people’s judgment.

“I think I realized it was a gift. I was afraid of it. I didn’t want people to know it, but the life I was given, I think I had to share it.” , she concluded.

Gomez is playing and producing the upcoming Hulu series alongside comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short. The comedy follows three strangers obsessed with real crime. When someone dies in their compound, they allege murder and begin to investigate the potential crime.

Only the Murders in the Building will air on August 31 exclusively on Hulu.
