BIOGRAPHY OF STEFANO DIONISI
Actor. Born and studied in Rome, after graduating from classical high school in 1985 he took acting lessons for a year at the La Scaletta theater under the guidance of maestro Antonio Pierfederici. He moved to New York in the late 1980s, and traveled to India between 1987 and 1991. His television debut took place in 1986 in Tomaso Sherman’s TV movie “Rose”. The following year he appeared in the TV serial “La Piovra”, and on the big screen in 1990 alongside Nastassja Kinski in “The Secret”. In 1994 Corbiau, the director of “Farinelli” chooses him for the leading role among a multitude of Italian actors. In addition to a great deal of notoriety, Stefano received, the same year, the David di Donatello Speciale “for his success in the field of Italian youth cinema”. In 1995 he acted for the first time in English in the British TV serial “Joseph in Egypt”, with Ben Kingsley, and in 1996 he joined Marcello Mastroianni in “Sosenga Pereira”, based on the novel by Antonio Tabucchi. In his career he tries himself in different roles, in “Bambola” (1996) he is the homosexual brother of the protagonist, played by Valeria Marini; in “La Trregua” (1997) he is a survivor of the Auchwitz concentration camp, in “Il Partigiano Johnny” (2000) he plays the part of a young student deserter at the end of the Second World War. The actor is sensitive to social issues; participated in campaigns for the destruction of anti-personnel mines and against world hunger. He owns a production company, Rats Produzioni, is engaged to actress Barbara Lerici and lives permanently in Rome.
