A comedy video commissioned by the White House, to help encourage young people to be vaccinated against Covid, has also succeeded in outraging many conservatives.
While the Delta variant is rampant in parts of the country, the White House has decided to work with TikTokers and YouTubers to raise awareness among Gen Z about the vaccine.
One of the people he has worked with is gay actor and comedian Benito Skinner, also known as Benny Drama. In the one-minute skit, Skinner (who has 1.4 million Instagram followers) plays an intern, Kooper.
“Hello, my name is Kooper and this is a day in my life as a White House intern,” he says as Lana Del Rey’s song “National Anthem” plays in the background.
The video stars Jen Psaki, the actual White House spokesperson.
In the video, Camp Kooper, dressed in extravagant false nails and a chic blazer, appears in the West Wing, exclaiming ‘vogue’ upon arrival, drinking coffee from an official White House mug and interacting with Psaki.

Psaki informs Kooper: “We have come a long way in our fight against this virus. We have vaccinated 160 million Americans. As Kooper absently browses his phone, Psaki asks him, “Do you understand all of this?”
“Don’t worry, queen, it’s all here,” he said, patting his head with a nail and winking at an unimpressed Psaki.
At the end of the skit, even Kooper agrees with the post, telling someone on a phone call, “We have to take pictures in every American’s arms.”
The video has proven itself on social media. It recorded over 450,000 views in about five hours.
Skinner, who told Politico he made the video for free, said: “We wanted something that could be funny and that my supporters and White House supporters could laugh at, but that would also convey the very important message. to get vaccinated. “
However, many conservatives were outraged by the funny skit. Donald Trump Jr. tweeted that watching the video was worse than torture: “Then they’re going to waterboard you until you get your shot, though there’s no way it’s worse than looking at that !!! “

Skinner responded to some of the right-wing reactions on his Instagram yesterday.
“To all the queer people following me who saw some of the deeply homophobic and hateful comments yesterday, I want you to know that I have received thousands of others of love and support. These sketches made me love myself and it’s a privilege to try and use them to help others. Mom mind fingers !!! If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, I hope you will reconsider your decision ❤️ NOW TELL ME I AM YOUR NATIONAL ANTHEM !!!! ”
