BIOGRAPHY OF DANIEL KALUUYA
Daniel Kaluuya is born the February 24, 1989 in London by Ugandan parents, although he was raised only by his mother, because his father was still a resident of Uganda. At just nine years old, little Daniel wrote his first show and a few years later he began to perform improvising, which served as a gym for him to develop his acting skills to the fullest; in fact, he has never attended a drama school, given his limited financial resources. Her first role came in 2006 with the TV movie Shoot the Messenger (2006), the first work of his career that deals with the issue of racism with blacks.
In 2007 he joined the cast of the successful teen drama Skins as one of the most recurring characters, the rapper Posh Kenneth great friend of the character of Anwar, played by Dev Patel. It is through Skins that he expands his horizons and also measures himself with the script of two episodes, as well as a collaborator of the first two seasons of the series. Subsequently he moves among other TV series of various successes as an extra, up to the first small role in the cinema with Cass (2008) followed by a more prominent part in the teenage thriller The secrets of the mind (2010), directed by the Japanese Hideo Nakata and on whose set he meets for the first time Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Slowly he begins to get noticed, both in the theater, where he wins numerous awards thanks to the interpretation of sucker Punch of Roy Williams, who in the cinema, where in 2011 he plays the agent Tucker in the comedy Johnny English – The rebirth (2011) with Rowan Atkinson. After appearing as a guest star in many television productions – including one in Black Mirror (2011), also on the small screen receives an interest role with the horror TV series The Fade (2011), in which he is one of the protagonists.
In 2013 he walked the set next to James McAvoy in a support role in Welcome to the Punch – Blood Enemies and he is the villain Black Death in the cinecomic Kick Ass 2, where he finds Aaron Taylor Johnson. With horror focused on the theme of racism – a topic he approached in his first film interpretation – Run – Get Out (2017), directed by Jordan Peele, comes the international fame in the starring role, as well as the Oscar nomination 2018 and ai Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The following year he joined the cast of another cinecomic, Black Panther (2018), where he plays the role of W’Kabi, best friend of T’Challa aka Black Panther, played here for the second time by Chadwick Boseman.
