As Covid rates rise again in the United States, Representative Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) joined a chorus of other far-right GOP lawmakers in criticizing Dr Anthony Fauci.
Fauci, 80, is director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). He is one of the most respected public health officials in the world. For decades he has led the fight against HIV and AIDS and in recent months has been at the forefront of the fight against Covid.
But for Cawthorn, he’s a “punk” who “lied to Congress” and needs to be stopped. Oh, and he can’t throw a baseball, either.

During a Senate committee hearing on Tuesday, Senator Rand Paul had a terse exchange with Fauci as he asked if NIAID had provided research funding to a laboratory in Wuhan, China. Paul asked Fauci to withdraw a statement saying there had been no funding, but Fauci refused to do so.
Interviewed on Newsmax, Cawthorn, 25, elected last year and currently the youngest member of Congress, made his views clear on Fauci.
“The reason you see Dr.Anthony Fauci dodging the questions, although if he threw a baseball at any of those questions he wouldn’t have to move at all because the guy can’t pitch a baseball to save his life, “Cawthorn joked.

“But the reason he’s dodging all of these questions is that I think he’s guilty and actually bears some responsibility for what happened in the Wuhan lab.”
Fauci has destroyed countless small businesses, taken years of critical development away from American youth, and done it all in the name of personal wealth and fame.

“It really pisses me off to say that he doesn’t want to go back on his statements because he lied to the American people,” Cawthorn continued later. “He lied to Congress, which is a crime.”
“And I’ll tell you, I normally have a lot of respect for the people who work here on Capitol Hill knowing that they, although we have different ideas on how to accomplish it, we all try to work for it. the best of the American people.

“But I’ll tell you right away, Anthony Fauci is not. He’s a punk trying to advance his own career, to get rich and famous. But let me tell you, he doesn’t deserve wealth or fame because he has destroyed countless small businesses.
He then called Fauci a “pawn for the Chinese government”.
“It took years of development from young children who are missing the best parts of their lives,” said Hawthorn.

“He chained entire states and destroyed their economies. All because of what? Does he want to see his face on the news?
Cawthorn’s comments come as concern grows over the spread of the Delta variant of Covid. In Los Angeles County, the rate of Covid positivity fell from 0.7% a month ago to 5.2% this week.
Gregory Poland of the Mayo Clinic was blunt about the risk of the Delta variant when speaking to CBS 4: “It’s a very different variant. He will find you. This virus will find anyone who is not immune. “

President Biden said yesterday that the CDC should advise children who have not been vaccinated to wear masks when they return to school in the fall.
Cawthorn’s comments about Fauci, particularly the accusation that the health expert wants to continue his career, have been scorned on Twitter.
